A creative visionary
with a passion for people
SUZANNE RUSHTON
Hi, I’m Suzanne!
As a multi-talented individual with experience in corporate photography, event planning, drone photo and videography, retreat facilitation & photography, web design, seo, wellness, movement, and more – my passion is delivering outstanding results for my clients by utilizing my broad skill set and drive for creative innovation.
I have over a dozen year’s experience as a photographer, working largely in tourism and real estate, and am also a certified yoga instructor, experienced in the corporate sector, and constantly growing my skill set and vision. Sometimes I dye my hair magenta.
In 2022, I facilitated a wellness & movement retreat, produced large-scale photos for a corporate campaign, and designed creative websites. I am always excited to use my skills on new projects across BC & Canada and am excited to now also offer drone videography!
In my spare time I love immersing myself in nature and learning new skills. In 2023, I traveled to Portugal (twice) and Eastern Canada. I explored and led photography adventures to the Scottish Highlands and Faroe Islands, two places that were on my bucket list.
My focus in life and business is to live freely, be centered and mindful, and to be open to and embrace new things and experiences. I’m passionate about beach volleyball and exploring the world.
If you’re looking for someone to help you with a creative project, I’d love to hear from you!

I produced and hosted a womens wellness retreat on Bowen Island. I taught partner yoga and held portrait sessions for the attendees. View the trailer here.
Life Today
My trips to Faroe Islands and Scottish Highlands were amazing, I made a 2024 calendar with photos from them.
I am taking on digital projects such as website audits, makeovers and rebuilds for small businesses who are aligned with my values. What values are those? Adventure, health, education, finance and creativity! You can learn more about that on the Digital Optimist website.
I am trying to spend less time in the city, but still love commercial projects! Occasionally I get requests for photography in cities that I’m not in, and so I have formed a photography agency to help clients when I am unavailable. I have a network of photographers in cities around BC, that offer a similar style and quality to myself. This allows me more flexibility to travel and say yes to the commercial projects!
I have a great love for movement, which doesn’t coincide well with sitting in front of a computer editing for hours on end. For this reason, I have embarked on a mission to learn (and do) as much as I can about all things related to movement.
This means aerial yoga, partner yoga, jungle yoga (hatha yoga that I learned in the jungles of Costa Rica in March 2022), long distance cycling, back country hiking, and my long time love beach volleyball.
Why I love photography
My favourite thing about photography is that it checks so many boxes. It combines technical, creative, business and people skills. I love that I’ve gotten to meet so many people, attend so many events, and have so many experiences I wouldn’t have otherwise. Now, in my spare time, I go backcountry hiking, #vanlife when possible, play beach volleyball and I’ve recently taken up long distance bike touring. I can’t say enough how much I love love love being outside. I think it’s important to always challenge myself and be learning something. I go on photography workshops to magical places so I can meet other enthusiasts and professionals and basically plan which camera bag to buy next.
As a lifelong entrepreneur, I enjoy working with marketers, creators, and business owners. I appreciate and celebrate the technical, human, and creative elements involved in starting, running, and growing a business. Innovation is very exciting to me and it thrills me to see people realizing their personal and business goals.
My focus is shifting from many smaller projects to fewer larger projects, so I have more time to adventure outside (please hire me to take a series of outdoor landscape images for you to put on the walls of your business, office, or commercial space.) See my work here.
How I got started
As a lifelong entrepreneur, I enjoy working with marketers, creators and business owners. I appreciate and celebrate the technical, human, and creative elements involved in starting, running, and growing a business. Innovation is very exciting to me and it thrills me to see people realizing their dreams and bringing new ventures to life. Photography has enabled me to see behind the scenes in many events, to the point where I could probably transition into event planning if I wanted to. I’ve been behind the scenes at investor pitches (kind of like Dragons Den), been inside some of the most beautiful homes in the city, and gotten to travel to exotic places like Vancouver Island and Whistler for commercial shoots. At this point, I’ve done so much that I’m pseudo-qualified to be an event planner, real estate agent, home-stager and business coach. Feel free to ask me about any of these things, or, you know, photography.
My love for people and innate skills for teaching resulted in my founding a company called Vancouver Photowalks in 2011, which quickly rose to the top ten activities on TripAdvisor and is still in the top 20 today. Due to my involvement with the tourism industry, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many top tourism companies to help develop imagery for advertising campaigns, including Tourism Vancouver, Landsea Tours, and many others. I also helped educate and inspire thousands of people in photography and show them my favourite areas of the city. Feel free to check out reviews (yep, shameless self promotion) 😉
The beginning….I get asked all the time how I got my start in photography. If you look at my Linked In you will see I graduated from UBC but also have a petroleum engineering technology diploma from SAIT. After UBC I worked as a personal trainer to the stars (just kidding) until 2009, when I was given a DSLR camera by a boyfriend. A year later we were asked if we wanted to photograph a wedding. We said sure! The couple was super happy with the photos and started recommending us to people. At that point I thought I should take classes, which I did at Focal Point for several years. From portraits, weddings and pets, I slowly transitioned to headshots, real estate and corporate work which now comprises the majority of my business.
